27/08/2010 - Joachim Preisig appointed new Chief Financial Officer of freenet AG

The Supervisory Board of freenet AG today unanimously appointed Joachim Preisig (47) as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will assume his new role with effect from 1 October 2010. A native of Switzerland, Preisig will succeed Axel Krieger, who is leaving the company at his own request after eleven years on the Executive Board. Krieger will continue to serve the management in a consultative capacity. Joachim Preisig has served as Chief Operations & Integration Officer (COO) at freenet AG since September 2008. As part of his new appointment as CFO, his current duties and tasks will be divided up among the three Executive Board members. There will be no new COO.

11/08/2010 - freenet AG reports increase in earnings from core business for first half of 2010

freenet AG improved the profitability of its core business of mobile communications in the first half of 2010 despite difficult market conditions. First-half recurring EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation/amortisation) in the Mobile Communications segment – adjusted for one-off items – increased by 4.7 million euros year-on-year to 168.2 million euros. 92.1 million euros of this was generated in the second quarter of this year alone, against 91.9 million euros in Q2/2009.

06/07/2010 - freenet AG pays out dividend to shareholders

At today’s Annual General Meeting of freenet AG, the general assembly passed a resolution to pay out to its shareholders a dividend in the amount of 0.20 euros per dividend-bearing share. This corresponds to a total payout of around 25.6 million euros. The Annual General Meeting thus approved the proposal made by the executive and supervisory board of freenet AG.

10/06/2010 - freenet and QSC forge long-term network partnership

freenet Cityline GmbH, a member of the freenet Group, and QSC AG, a leading mid-size services provider in the telecommunications industry, inked an agreement on a long-term network partnership. QSC will assume freenet’s narrowband network—which handles preselection, call-by-call and Internet-by-call services— and integrate it into QSC’s Next Generation Network (NGN). This network integration will generate synergies for both parties. End-customer business will remain exclusively with freenet. The agreement between freenet and QSC is long-term in nature and will initially run for a period of ten years. The transaction is subject to various conditions that could delay its execution.

25/02/2010 - freenet AG wins HASPAX Award for good share performance

freenet AG accepted the HASPAX award on the trading floor of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce yesterday evening for its 117-percent leap in share price in 2009. For the third consecutive year, WELT GRUPPE, together with the Hamburg and Hanover stock exchanges, and Hamburger Sparkasse awarded the prizes for the year’s best share performances, and for Newcomer of the Year to HASPAX - the stock market index for northern German companies. freenet’s share development was second in the ranks of top performers.

09/02/2010 - freenet Group to pay out dividend again based on good results

Preliminary figures indicate that freenet AG generated Group revenue of 3,650.7 million euros in 2009, compared with 2,776.5 million euros in 2008. The Group’s gross profit for the past financial year came to 774.6 million euros, vs. 563.6 million euros the previous year.
